Alaena had never had a time more wonderful than the time she spent with Deramin. It was like being in heaven. She found herself using her magic more and more to do chores and not get caught, just to be with him. She felt she couldn't live without him.

She laid beside him on the beach, eyes closed and content to stay this way. She had been with him all night, enjoying everything he had to offer her. She breathed a content sigh, not wanting to stir from her resting place. It was before dawn, she had time...

He rolled over, moving closer and kissing her warmly, and she smiled, kissing him back. "I love you," he murmured to her.

"I love you, too," she replied, knowing in her heart of hearts she did. She reached up, caressing his finely pointed ear. It was reminiscent of those in the Guya's house, though somewhat different. Upswept, and narrow. They rather reminded her of rabbit ears, though they were more slender than that, and much nicer to caress.

Deramin nuzzled her. "Can you believe it's been six weeks since we first expressed how we felt about each other, Alaena?" he whispered to her, caressing her ear in return.

"No, I can't, Deramin. It feels like it's been so short a time. I wish it could last forever," Alaena replied in a dreamy sort of voice, yet slightly sad.

"Who says it can't? It's our life, our choice, right?" Deramin asked, his voice a seductive coo.

Alaena closed her eyes. She couldn't resist him when he was like this. "You're right, who says?" She smiled up at him, gazing into his eyes, dazing to lose herself to him.

She was interupted by a loud, and quite insistant voice lacing through her mind. Alaena, the eggs are hatching! The dragons told me they'd hatch soon! Quick, before we're missed!

Alaena sighed heavily. She didn't want to leave Deramin.

Do you want to Impress or not, Alaena? Alryuhn persisted stubbornly.

Alaena groaned quietly. "I think we'd better go, Deramin. Dawn's coming, and the eggs are hatching today according to Alryuhn."

Deramin's eyes lit. "Really? Well, let's go, miamore, and Impress out dragons that we may soar the skies of eternity forever!"

Alaena smiled at him, and was helped up by his strong, but gently hands, and he pulled her close, kissing her deeply as he teleported them back to the Candidate Barracks.

He let her go as the phased in, and she quickly went to undress, tossing her clothing on the cot and slipping her Candidate robe on. She pulled her sandals on, and brushing her hair smooth, braiding it neatly so it wouldn't get in the way.

Not far away Deramin did the same, whilst Alaena admired his well kept Elven frame, naughty thoughts passing through her mind whilst she folded her clothing and put it in the trunk at the end of her bed, making sure her bed was neat.

She looked around, suddenly realizing the barracks were empty, about the same time Deramin did it seemed, for he walked over to her, and frowned. "I think everyone's up just a bit early, don't you?" he asked her.

She nodded, and went to reply, but before she could a loud thrum filled the air, and Raela, who had just landed on her shoulder, fell off onto the bed with a startled squeek. "The eggs!" Alaena exclaimed.

Apparently Deramin had the same thought, and grabbed her hand, pulling her to her feet as he rushed out, pulling her along, though she ran with him, not objecting. Starving she might be in a few hours, but nothing was going to keep her from those eggs.

They ran across the bowl, followed by their fire-lizards, for Deramin had gained a blue--which he had named Alar--in the time they had been together, and Alaena's two--Alryuhn and Raela--where just as quick to follow as the younger fire-lizard as they dashed towards the Hatching Grounds, feeling the dragon's thrum in their bones and chest. It caused their hearts to skip beats as they ran, and by the time they stumbled onto the sands together they were out of breath, and panting heavily.

Alaena doubled over, falling to her knees as she gasped for breath, and Deramin kneeled next to her, trying to support her as he, too, gasped for air.
