After spending large amounts of money staying at hotels and eating out during our vacations (I am a teacher, therefore I have a long summer), my wife and I started thinking, adding and multiplying and came with the decision to buy a camper.  Because at the time my tow vehicle was a 2001 Dodge Caravan , we decided to go with a Pop-UP. On Jun 9, 01, we purchased a 2002 Rockwood 2280.  After a month, we found out that the Caravan was not the proper vehicle for towing the Rockwood.  In July we traded-in the Caravan and bought a 2000 Astro Conversion Van.  After a month with the Rockwood, a few camping trips, a lot of cranking and finding out that, yes indeed, we enjoyed  camping, we decided to go one step higher. On July 26, 2001, we purchased a bigger trailer. We decided for the Kiwi_17A, because we were limited to the weight we could pull with the Astro.  We took a few camping trips and because we were not allowed to park the trailer on the condo area where we live, we decided to store at Pine Haven Campground, Oceanview, NJ.  After a few more camping trips, we decided to into a bigger, lite travel trailer. We decided to go for a Rockwood 2501.  On Sep 6, 2001 we went to pick-up the Kiwi because we were picking-up the Rockwood the following day.  When we arrived at Pine Haven and went to the storage area, what a big surprise!!  Our trailer was stolen!!!!  I  reported to the police and started processing the claim.  While waiting for the insurance settlement, a new opportunity came up.  The Chevy dealer wrote me a letter saying that I could upgrade my Astro with little down and about the same payment.  I jumped right on it and purchase a 2001 Chev Silverado, 2500 HD, 6.0L, 4.10 Ratio.  Now I had a new super truck with no trailer.  On Oct 5, 2001, the insurance guy called me and told me that the check was ready for next day.  I have seen a trailer the weekend before which I liked, so I inmediately called the dealer and told them to have it ready for next day delivery.  We purchased a 2002 Wildwood LE, 2903, with bunks.  I think this is the perfect combination and should last us for a while.
