Formula 1 is saddened at the
news that even before Craig Pollock takes over the team
at the end of the season, having purchased it under the
name of British American Racing, Ken Tyrrell has decided
to call it a day. Beset by serious budgetary problems,
the team had designed a car without great imagination.
Having said that, the Tyrrell 026 clocked up some very
good times during the winter layoff, thanks to the
Japanese driver, Toranosuke Takagi. Perhaps we can't see
the wood for the trees... 1998 will certainly go down as
a year of transition, before the team prepares for 1999
with vastly greater resources. But unfortunately without Uncle Ken. |
