Who knows? Perhaps we will
get a surprise from the tiny Italian team, permanently
limited financially but brimming with courage and
ingenuity. Giancarlo Minardi and Gabriele Rumi have
brought off the feat of attracting ex-Ferrari engineer
Gustav Brunner. It's all the talk of the Scuderia...
Promoted to the rank of technical director, Brunner must
now buckle down to the task of dealing with the
capricious M198, equipped with a Ford V10 engine that
still leaves room for improvement. The great curiosity
item in the Minardi package is certainly the youngster
Esteban Tuero, aged just 20, who has been entrusted with
the wheel of the second car. His team-mate will be the
Japanese driver, Shinji Nakano, who is remembered at
Prost Grand Prix with mixed feelings...! |
