1/77th Armor Reunion

REUNION 2000

DAY 5
Monday - July 31, 2000

Wow, the last day. The time just flew by.
The clouds are clearing out and so are some of the veterans. A few left on Sunday and Monday morning but those who stayed were able to attend a great event. CALFEX. Combined Arms, Live-Fire Exercise. The "GEE WHIZ" of military demonstrations. And it was very cool.

We were bussed to the area where Calfex was to take place. Static vehicles were in position for us to climb on and go in. Left and Middle: Former TCs Jerry Baughman and Ed Stewart take the helm once again. Right is C3 Tom Rosser and Len Renoux joined by Barbara Baughman at one of the static vehicles.

Next we were situated in bleachers over looking a landing where the military vehicles cruised up to show their stuff. Then the demonstrations of the different tracked and wheeled vehicles began.

Next a mock war was planned and staged by the 16th Cav Regiment. It was interesting as they stated their objectives and awesome to witness as they were executed. I was totally knocked out by the M1 tanks and also the Apache choppers firing their missles. A big SALUTE goes to the 16th Cav for an impressive show of the US fire power.
