REUNION 2000
DAY 1
Thursday - July 27, 2000

Each time you see a small picture lined in blue, click on it to see the bigger picture. SFC Alston was assigned to schedule and task out the reunion. He was super to work with and tried to achieve everything requested. We salute SFC Alston.

Tom Rosser on the left is the veteran who started this whole thing by wanting to locate his tank crew. He is standing next to Ron Parrett, center, and Jerry Baughman, on the right.

This is the best thing about a reunion's first day: Seeing everyone reunite again and looking at all the photo albums. Left: James Griffin is in front and behind him is "Tex", Garlon Jackson. "Pop" Paul Stewart is to the left of Griff and behind him Ed Stewart all from A co, 1st pltn- 1968. In the green shirt is Joe Malloy, C2 68. Right is A co CPT Jerry Brown meeting some of his former soldiers in his company for the first time in 30 years.

Here's Jerry Baughman, C3 68, talking with Ret. Col. Max Pickarts, the BN CO at Carson and after the 1/77th AR deployed to Vietnam. Col. Pickarts rearranged his summer vacation plans in order to be with the battalion he commanded for two years. On behalf of all the veterans, thank you so much for attending the reunion. Your presence there was meaningful and enjoyed.

This beautiful vinyl banner was made by Jerry and Barbara Baughman on behalf of the C3 68-69 platoon. It decorated the hospitality room at the hotel and everyone at the reunion signed it. Thanks Jerry and Barbara!

L to R Here's Garry Goodwin, the A CO's driver in 68, A3 Pltn Ldr Bill McGehee, and their former CPT Jerry Brown. Jerry Brown is the one who started the monument fund after visiting Fort Knox a few years ago and seeing that the Veterans of the 1/77th AR were not represented at Armor Memorial Park. Well, they are now! More about the monument later in the website.

The hospitality room wasn't big enough for all of us so we spilled out onto to the patio and hotel lobby. A big THANKS! goes to the staff and management at the Wickam Guest House. They all were gracious, helpful and made us feel welcomed home. Here are buddies L to R: Ed Ranilovich, Jerry Baughman and James Stewart... on the patio behind the hotel. James Stewart was the first buddy Tom Rosser located last September!

R to L: Here's B co. CPT, Don Cumming next to B co. Pltn Ldr Peter Van Haren, Cumming's wife, Karolyn. After Don found out he lived very close by to Jerry Brown (A co. CPT at the same time as Don) he assisted Jerry with the monument fund endeavor.

From the left is Ernie Kovacs, Al Cotton, Bruce Goldsmith and Bill Starr. All were former senior NCOs except Bruce who was XO for C co and later Scout Pltn Ldr for HHC. In March 2000, Bruce went to the current 1/77th AR in Schweinfurt, Germany to speak to the battalion at an All Ranks Ball.

Here's a replica of a 32 year old map with cartoon images that depict memorable events during 1969. It belonged to BN CO Ret. Col. Milia, who succeeded Col. Pickarts in 12/68. Col. Milia sent it to be enjoyed at the reunion and it was displayed in the hospitality room we gathered in. Col. Milia was unable to attend, but sent his regards to the battalion he remembers so well. More about Col. Milia and this artwork later in the website.
