A 17-year old's
thoughts on war.
Poem written by an only son one-year prior to joining the U.S. Navy.
CRY©
A tear rolled down my cheek,
As I heard the General's cry for WAR;
A NATION now sits waiting,
To see what the future has in store.
WHY would they do this?
WHY must good men die?
WHAT of our great negotiators?
DID they really TRY?
To find a SIMPLE PEACE,
On which all could agree;
But to reason was useless,
For CONFLICT was all they could see.
To avoid it now is
impossible,
The HORROR has begun;
To defend our PRIDE and ALLIES,
We all do what must be done.

Wage war on the Oppressors,
To liberate the Oppressed.
We now are the Aggressors,
Warriors from the WEST.
If you speak for us,
Then let your cries ring out and STAND TALL!
But if you seek to CONDEMN
~
THEN SPEAK OF US NOT AT ALL!

Standing for what you believe in, regardless of the odds against you,
and the pressure that tears at your resistance, ...means
COURAGE
Keeping a smile on your face, when inside you feel like dying,
for the sake of supporting others, ...means
STRENGTH
Stopping at nothing, and
doing what you know is right in your heart, ...means
DETERMINATION
Doing more than is expected,
to make another's life a little more bearable, without uttering a single complaint,
...means
COMPASSION
Helping a friend in need, no
matter the time or effort,
to the best of your ability,
...means
LOYALTY
Giving more than you have to, and expecting nothing in return,
...means
SELFLESSNESS
Holding your head high, and
being the best you know you can be when life seems to fall apart at your
feet, facing each difficulty with the confidence that time will bring you
better tomorrows,
and never giving up,
...means
CONFIDENCE
Trusting God in
the darkness, when nothing makes sense,
when the pain
overwhelms you, when He seems beyond your reach;
but knowing in
your heart He is there and He loves you,
...means
FAITH
