A Dream Fulfilled

She looked at the stranger before her
and wondered just who he might be
Perhaps he was some future lover
Come forth that her love be set free

Though taller than her he was shorter
Than one who would come in her dreams
To save her from some fearful dragon
Or rescue her from scorching flames

His eyes they were blue and like crystal
His teeth were as white as the snow
She knew as he stood in her doorway
Men would follow him where he would go

She reached out her hand and she touched him
He came forward to her embrace
She knew he would stay there for ever
And her loneliness died without trace
