DESCENDANTS OF THE BOUNTY MUTINEERS
CHRISTIAN
Friday October Christian 1790-1831,
one of three children
born to Fletcher Christian of the Bounty. He died on Tahiti, his brother Charles died on Pitcairn Island and his sister Mary on Norfolk Island. His name was changed to Thursday when they found their calandar to be out by one day but they continued to call him Friday anyway. He married Mataohu (Teraura, Taoupiti, Doubit, Susannah) a Raatiran (Tahiti) by birth, ca 1775 - 1850. Their lineage has a double dose of pure Tahitian.
Thursday October Christian 1820-1911
(Doctor, Duddie, Doodie) son of Friday October Christian, as a youngish man on Norfolk Island. He returned to Pitcairn Island. All the Christians on Pitcairn are descended from him. His niece was Rebecca 'Pot' Christian who remained on Norfolk.
Rebecca 'Pot' Christian 1830-1871, the daughter of
Charles 'Big
Charlie' Christian, elder brother of Thursday Christian, and of Maria (nee) Christian 1808-1831. She no doubt had lovely skin but the old photograph from which this was taken had deteriorated. She was only sibling to Driver Christian and aunt of the below.
Nancy Jane
Christian 1859-1940s (married Henry Menzies) and her brother Harvey
Brooks Christian 1875-1940s, children of Charles Driver Christian and
Maria Lucy (nee) Christian. Thursday October Christian was their
great uncle. Both their parents were born Christian and all four
grandparents were born Christian. The family was highly talented and
musical. They lived at No 2 Quality Row, Kingston. Many objects in
the Kingston Museum belonged to this family.
