The
Basil Bunting Poetry Centre
If you enjoy bunting, this is where you should be.
british-poets
mailbase
If you want to have your mailbox filled with whingeing Cambridge
post-modernists, apply here.
Douglas
Clark: British and Irish Poetry Sites
What you can't find on this page, you can find at Doug's.
Club
des Poètes
A wonderful point of entry to poesie (absolument francophone).
Denis
Constales
Denis's treasure trove of online texts – Aloysius Bertrand (with
fascinating and little-known drawings by the author), Arthur de
Gobineau, Joseph de Maistre (especially valuable, this), etc., etc.
And he has the good sense to be based in Belgium! (Just don't do the rounds of the Brussels bars with him, if you value your liver.) One to spend many
happy and rewarding hours with.
Hishikawa's
Home Page in English
Fabulously comprehensive reference guide to WWW resources for English
literature by the very able Michael Eichi Hishikawa.
Peter
Howard's Poetry
Peter "Low Probability of Racoons" Howard's site not only boasts his
own poetry, but also one of the most extensively collated and
annotated selections of English-language poetry links on the
Web.
Tim
Love's Literary References
Another tremendous compendium of (chiefly) UK and US literary
links.
Poetic
Express
They seem to be setting the benchmark for every other Web poetry
exercise – which is why they published me, of course! [Plug] Their
subtitle "Commitment to Excellence" is more than just flannel, and
their "Top Site Award" is proudly worn by some of the best.
The Poetry
Society
As unavoidable as death and taxes.
Snakeskin
How could I fail to mention a Webzine which publishes my poetry? But
Snakeskin is also a highly rated and very
interesting publication.
Yahoo!
France – Poètes
Oui, mes braves. Essentiel, sans question.
Literary, Reference, General
Alapage
A very neat tool for bibliographical searches in French. Just watch out for their curious treatment of authors' surnames, which generally throws up several variants for each, with surnames appearing first and first-name initials to add to the confusion.
La Bibliothèque Pataphysique
A Mecca for pataphysiciens. (In French, naturally, but with occasional links to English translations.) Includes Jarry's Faustroll writings and other useful online texts.
Le Départ Éclair
Welcome to "la toile". [Don't you love state language control?] A very useful compendium of French-language Web search resources.
Jane
Dorner: Links for Writers
Jane Dorner earns her place in every writer's heart with a digest of
just about every link you might need in the writing and publishing
worlds. Try the astonishing international "Publisher's Catalogues
Home Pages".
EuroSeek
Purports to be a more Eurocentric way to surf the Web. I've not much proof of this myself, but I give it the benefit of the doubt.
Hotmail
Keep your employer/the cyberpolice/spammers off your back. A free and very convenient Web-based confidential e-mail service, for those with something to hide, or just fed up with Microsoft's clunky little boxes. Mind you, I gather that the Gates of Hell has now bought the company; I guess he doesn't want anything to be free without his say-so.
Inkspot:
Resources for Writers
If there was a real global trade union for writers (no, not P.E.N.),
it would probably look like this.
Internet
Bookshop Homepage
Get your bibliographical searches done here free! And you don't even
have to buy anything!
Literature
Unbound
Just like it says, "a guide to literary resources on the Web". Lots
of alternative and electronic publishing material, as well as the
more regular stuff. Indispensable.
New York
Books
Perhaps not what you might think: this is in fact The New York Review of
Books and Granta online. Save yourself those bothersome
trips to the library!
OPAC
97
Now this could really save you some bothersome trips to the library,
especially now that it's moved to King's Cross! Yes, the British
Library at last comes online, or at least, much of it. Until they get
the complete catalogue up and running, this is the next best
thing.
Oulipo
Oui, Oulipo est ici. Worship at the shrine of Queneau.
Princess Natalie Welcomes You to Hell
This woman is sick, so head on over there and find out how infectious it is. Swell Princess Natalie's ridiculously inflated ego even further by adding one more digit to her tally of ruined lives. You'll laugh so much you'll be reduced to a helpless mass of twitching flesh, which is probably the idea. For 1998, the Queen Bitch of my heart has added links to free artwork and Web page design sites, so that you too can make your virtual self into a monster like her. Depraved, corrupting and very, very funny.
RES-Links – The All-in-One Resource Page
Every search engine and method you could possibly have heard of, all gathered in one place and inventoried.
SearchPoint
Describes itself as a "brilliant way to search the Web", which is tolerably accurate. Searches 10-12 search engines with a single hit.
