The following was taken at an autocross race held at the Jackson County Sports Park Raceway, April 26th 1995. There were about 50 competitors for this first race of the season.

This is a picture of my car just before the racing began.

The 100 is my car number, just one that I picked at random. I wanted number 74, but that was already taken by someone else. The E stands for the class of cars that I was placed in based upon engine to weight ratio. The S is the Stock division. No modifications were done to my car before this time.

This is me on my first run of the race. This track is very tricky. A couple of hair-pin turns and short staight-aways didn't allow for very high speeds. Driving stayed mainly in 2nd gear and 35 mph was about the fasted speed that could be reached and still be in control. The track it's self is set up for 250 different course possibilities; it's a very versitile track.

Prior to the race, all new competitors (like me) were required to take the driving school. It taught the basics of vehicle performance, over-steer, under-steer, proper ways to take corners, etc...

If you can, I would recommend going to driving school, even if you're not interested in autocrossing. I was fortunate enough to attend Bob Bondurant's School of High Performance Driving In Phoenix, AZ. Most driving schools offer classes in defensive street driving, law enforcement, limousine driving, and as well as anti-terrorist/anti-kidnap techniques. I should let you know that these schools are not cheap. They range in price from approximately $200-$4,000, depending on the class you wish to attend. I have listed below, a few driving schools.
