Fascinating Site! My father owned an Austin Maxi about the time the Princess was around, but I still remember that great futuristic design - I never felt that the Ambassador (one of which my father eventually bought in '83) was quite as good. I'm actual y looking to buy a Wolseley Wedge at the moment, so wish me luck (they most certainly are rare!).

What a nice site! Since a week I have my second Princess 1700 from 1979. She is sound and in very good original condition. My first Princess was also a 1700 from 1979. I respray this car with aerosols in black and fit a grill from a Wolseley 18/22 wich I ound on a scrapyard in the UK during a holyday. It was the first and last Wolseley 17/70! Big fun and a lot of questions.

Fascinating! A step by step exercise in total futility. BUT in 20 years time you will be able to say to your kids...ill tell you about a car i did up once!. Seriously i own a princess an 1800hl which i bought from a gentleman in his 70's. Its a 1978 model, yellow with a black vinyl roof. He had restord it and spent $3500 on a full long block recon. and $4000 on panel and paint. The car had done 170000km proir to this work. It has since done 40000km. He had also replaced the carpets with new originals from the UK. I have ownned the car for about 3 years and have only had to put on new tyres and replace the heater which was blocked up and cost me $25 2nd hand. T e car is still mint and i might even consider selling it if you are dissillusioned. Did you ever finish it?

Great site, I love anything BMC/Leyland, especially Morris Marinas. Wish they brought the Princess to Australia. Where do you get your parts from in NZ? I own an original 1972 Morris Marina TC, it was one of the first to be assembled in Australia. It is an aqua color and has a polish set of the original alloy wheels that were an option on the car. I love it. Take care, great site. Rob.

Favourite toy (yes really!): My Loveable Allegro 2 door

Comments:
Just looking around the internet for Audtin sites and found this one- which is good apart from loading time. Not a great fan of the Princess- they're unreliable dodgy and shaped like a wedge of cheese. I've just bought a brilliant Allegro Mk1 De-Luxe (197 ) with the cool square steering wheel, 2 door in Braken (orange) 1.1 in perfect condidtion, FSH and only 45,000 miles. The Allegro is much nicer than the Princess- next al be getting a Vanden Plas model. Nice site- oitty about the car- the Maxi is probabl better. I will put a link to your site on mine- what about one for my site eh? Thanks alot -Alex

Dear Alexander. I have just found your wesite, and I am going to sit up all nigth digesting it all. I owned an Austin Princess 2 from 1983 to 1993, and I covered 219,000 miles in it intill it was written of following accident damage. It was a brilliant car. Since it left me, I have owned two Ambassadors. The latest one is a 2000 VDP automatic, with tran ission problems, which I am about to sort out. I am sure you would be interested to learn that we have a very good owners club here in UK. I have the job of treasurer-and I also deal with club spares. If you are interested, I will send more information to you. Well Alexander, I will close this now, but I do hope you will get in touch. It is so pleasing to find you website, and I am now about to read evry word of it. Many thanks for it. Sincerely Harry Parker.

Great site, am an avid fan of the larger Austin Rover vehicles, hence my site covering the Rover 800 series. Have a certain soft spot for the old wedge, the shape was very futuristic at the time and the cars very comfortable, unfortunately BL didn't make hem properly. The 'O' series engine was a worthy addition and has only recently gone out of production, albeit in much modified 16 valve form but they seem to last forever.

Hello! Nice site! I usually drive Rovers, but I am also a proud owner of one of Eskilstuna's(my home town) finest Princess Leyland 1800HL´s! It's finished in dark green (brg)and has light brown vinyl roof. I bought it directly from it's first owner, my English teacher... She promised me that if she would ever decide to sell her car, she would sell it to me, because I told her i liked "her Princess" very much...This was back in 1986! This year she sold it to me! Best regards Anders

Very nice site. I used to have a red Princess. A car with lots of nice memories for me. After the Princess I bought a TR7, which I liked as much as my Princess. Now I own a Volvo 340 (see English Volvo club for example). Are you going to show some pictures of the engine-rebuilding too? That would be nice. Can you make a link to Haynes-manuals. I like the site, Haynes manual bit very good, I used to own Ambassadors (Princess's successor), I have owned 3 altogether, but now I have moved on to a much more modern Renault, (seven seats, handy with 3 kids). I have passed my Ambassador on to my Mum but I do all the work on it. I quite liked it! I have done almost everything on my Ambassadors and if you are still interested (how long ago did you produce this site?) I will gladly answer any questions. Nice to know someone else has a soft spot for the older, but not too, old motors.
