The Legend
Gather around and listen as I retell the legend of Atlantis as pertaining to these two. If you are unfamiliar with the story, I suggest you watch the movie, first.
When Atlantis sank thousands of years ago, the tiny Princess Kidagakash would never had imagined the stranger that would come into her life.
The bookish and awkward linguist, Milo Thatch, now in the year 1914, had spent all his life ridiculed for his search for Atlantis. When he was literally handed a map to the lost empire and was given a full expedition, he jumped at the chance, taking the journey of a lifetime, and facing the perils of discovery.
After a terrible accident, Milo lay wounded at the base of a volcano shaft. He awoke to see a group of masked warriors around him. To his surprise, one lifted the mask, revealing a beautiful young woman who proceeded to heal his wound before bounding off.
Shortly thereafter, the scholar stumbled upon the city of Atlantis, discovering it was still populated, and the young huntress was the heir to the throne. Together, Milo and the hunter princess, Kida, discussed each other's worlds out of curiosity and need. In order to "unlock the secrets of the past to save the future," Kida led Milo on an underwater tour to read the ancient murals to her, for the king had let his people forget how to read.
When they surfaced, Milo found they had been betrayed by the crew, and he and Kida came face to face with what the murals had been speaking of: an entity called the "Heart of Atlantis," which was the force sustaining the very lives of the Atlanteans. Everything, had, in fact, been planned so that the power source would be stolen. In order to save her people, Kida sacrificed herself to it, becoming one with the mighty crystal. Here Milo and Kida also express their concerns for one another as she tells him not to fear as she is taken and he tries to go to her.
Even after persuading the good-hearted crewmembers he had befriended to join with him, the crystallized Kida was still spirited away. After some pivotal, uplifting words from one of his friends, Milo made up his mind to go after the crystal to "rescue the princess" and "save Atlantis."
A struggle develops as Atlantean fought explorer for survival. In desperation, Milo directly assaults the commander, Rourke, for control of the crystal. Weaponless and terribly out-muscled, he resourcefully used a piece of crystallized glass to transform and inadvertently shatter Rourke.
However, the vehicle that had been transporting the crystal, a great dirigible, crashed into the volcano floor, causing it to erupt. Milo risked his life to insure the crystal was returned, and, thus, saving Atlantis. Kida is returned by the crystal, and Atlantis has regained lost splendor.
Unlike the rest of the crew, Milo stays behind to be with the new queen, Kida, realizing a new life was ahead of him.
