Casting
The raw material used here is liquid
unsaturated polyester resin. While the resin is still in the liquid state,
it is cast into the casting drums or cylinders. Prior to being
cast, colours are added and the required quantities measured keeping in
view the desired design and colour of the button. This liquid resin upon
solidifying acquires the form of a sheet which when solidified is
taken out and spread to be punched. The punching machine punches round
discs, of the required size of the buttons, called blanks at this stage,
out of the soft sheets. These blanks are then ready to be turned and have
holes drilled into them, thereby converting these into Buttons, in the
turning department of the factory.
