The USA. As I mentioned at the time you clicked the link to this page? To be precise, a fully escorted coach tour, starting in Washington D.C. ... and overnighting in: Arlington, VA, just across the Potomac from the Nation's Capital, thence to Williamsburg VA, Charleston SC, Atlanta GA, Montgomery AL, New Orleans LA, Houston TX, San Antonio TX ... and leaving from Dallas TX. Marvellous. No, better than that. Do yourself a favour, and navigate through this holiday using the hyperlinks scattered throughout the text. If you want to go back to the start, or feel a need to go to my site homepage, well, by now you should know what to do? :o) |
Introduction. This is very much a first draft, so it's not by any means polished prose. It never will be polished prose, but hopefully will be relatively accurate. If it is, please don't thank anyone else, thank me! But if it isn't, it won't be dangerous enough to enable you to get you lost or mugged. And if it does, well, refer to my disclaimer. ;o) <- probably not the last smiley face you'll see here. Sorry. Enough of that nonsense! No, not really. At the booking of this holiday (a 'vacation' to some people) I'd been to the USA twice. I thought I was ready for the travelling and the cultural divide, albeit remembering that I am by no means a seasoned traveller. But, as with the best-laid plans of mice and men, I pretty soon came unstuck. There's this thing called the English language. But more of that later. On Day 2, Thursday to be precise. Almost. Ah, we haven't actually embarked yet. Better get going then. But first ... I'm not going to mention any personal names other than those of guides and the like here. Why? For the simple reason I don't think it's fair that I miss people out, and people deserve their privacy. So, although it's a personal account of one heck of a holiday, there's only going to be impressions of the places, sights, sounds, smells ... [oh, get on with it!] Also, whilst you'll find informative stuff scattered about within the body of my text, it's hardly likely MY informative stuff will be better than other resources you'll find on the internet, so take it all with a pinch of salt and enjoy the rest? If you're viewing this on the web, sorry, but you'll have to scroll a bit. Well, a lot actually. I don't do bite-sized chunks. I prevaricate. Waffle. Etc. Ok, here we go! Er ... rather, there I went, and here YOU go! You excited? I was! Ah, so you'll be wanting to read about this holiday, starting on the next page then? |
