- Games will be played five on five (including goalies). Teams may only have 14 players on the roster and three alternatives.
- Four (4) 12-minute quarters.
- There will be a two minute time-out period between quarter 1 and quarter 2, one 15 minute half-time, and another two minute time-out period between quarter 3 and quarter 4. All television games may have the option to reduce halftime intermission from 15 minutes to a minimum of 10 minutes.
- The League will have the following age requirements for men and women: He or she must be 18 years old and over when playing in Roller Hockey International competition. Any player under the age of 18 must submit a letter of consent from their parents or guardian and be approved by the commissioner's office.
- League teams must submit to RHI the name of a nearby qualified medical facility where players may be taken in the case of injury. In addition, each team will have a doctor on call and a trainer on hand at the games.
- There is checking and off-side calls in RHI play. The off-side rule and illegal clearing rule will be in effect. The League requires that in each game there be one referee and two linesmen.
- On a pass, the puck must precede the player(s) over the center line to remain on-side. However, if the puck is carried over the center line, all players are declared on-side regardless of their previous positioning. Please refer to Rule 68(b) tag up on power play for exception.
- Rink size must be at least 180' long and 70' wide. RHI recommends using rinks that are 200' long and 85' wide. Rink must have hockey boards approximately 4' high completely surrounding the playing surface to keep the puck in play. Work must be done to those boards which would cause injuries to players.
