Match observations:
What a night! From top to bottom, this has to definitely be the best Explosion we've seen thus far in the short history of GLW! If Super Cade I ends up being anything like this night was, we're all going to be in for a special night!
The show kicked off with the Superstars of Grunge, Skank & "Superstar" Steve Boz, coming out to a not so friendly reaction. They talked about how they felt they weren't getting the respect that they deserve since they became a team at the
expense of Gutterboy. They went on to belittle the New Powers of Pain and say that they didn't deserve to be in the Four-Corners Match at Super Cade where the winner will receive a World Tag Team Title shot on Explosion the night after.
NPOP took exception to this as they came out and challenged the Superstars of Grunge to a match, and even put their place in the Four-Corners Match on the line! The Superstars accepted and the match was on!
The New Powers of Pain let their emotions get the better of them. They rushed the ring and immediately knocked Skank out of the ring. Mark Pain turned around and immediately caught the Sweet Chin Music right under the jaw from Steve Boz
and picked up the W and are now going to Super Cade! The New Powers of Pain have to feel cheated, but there's nothing they can do about it now.
"The New F'N Show" Jerry Lynn has turned quite a few heads in his time with Great Lakes Wrestling, and he's looking to turn even more at Super Cade when he challenges Doc Dean for the Midwestern Title. However, he'd have to get past the
champ's main henchman, and that's Brian Adias. It was pretty obvious from the get-go that Adias' directions were to maim first, win later. Adias brought everything he had for Lynn, and Lynn absorbed a good portion of it. However, a fast
small package out of nowhere gets Lynn the duke. He would pay for it, though, as Adias beat Lynn into the ground. Mission complete.
Doc Dean might not be getting a 100% Jerry Lynn at Super Cade, but he wouldn't even make it to Super Cade if Mark "The Shark" Schrader had anything to say about it as they locked up in a Falls-Count-Anywhere Match with the Midwestern Title
up for grabs. To say that Schrader was pumped for this match would be a huge understatement, and if it wasn't for Brian Adias once again, we'd have a new Midwestern champion. Dean and Schrader ended up in the back of the building with
the Shark all over the champ; that is, until Adias pushed a giant crate into him! Dean quickly followed up with the Magistral and got the 3 count and then got the hell out of the building. When Schrader came to, he wasn't happy as was
shown by him jumping in his car and chasing after Dean & Adias!
The Television champion Pierre Oulette had a huge task ahead of him tonight if he wanted to walk out with his title, as he had to defend against "The Roaddog" Jesse James Armstrong. Armstrong would love to put the TV Title around his
waist as he goes on to Super Cade I to wrestle in that huge Elimination Match with the Extremists (one in which we still don't know who the Armstrongs' mystery partner is). Oulette tried all he could, but he couldn't seem to find the one
move to put the Roaddog down for the 3. Eventually, Armstrong fought back and had the TV champ reeling and looked to be sealing the deal, but out came Lance Storm to ruin that, tossing Oulette a pair of brass knuckles. A shot with the
knux and the Cannonball put the Roaddog out and gave Oulette his biggest win as Television champ. Lance jumped in the ring and began pummeling on Jesse James until Ken Shamrock came in and broke that party up and we had an impromptu match
on our hands!
This match was fantastic, no bones about it. Nobody in the crowd sat down once during this 18 minute match, and with all the action this one had, I can't blame them! Ken Shamrock isn't known as the World's Most Dangerous Man for no
reason, but Lance Storm didn't back down for one second as he stayed with Shamrock blow for blow. There's not too much that can be said about this match because quite frankly, it was exhausting just to watch! That's how good this match
was! In the final moments of the contest, Lance went for the Maple Leaf, but Shamrock was able to reverse it into the Ankle Lock Submission. Storm had no choice but to submit or suffer a broken ankle, and wisely, he chose submit. That
is a huge momentum builder as we head into Super Cade!
After that we cut to The Perfect Creation backstage, and he was not happy whatsoever. TPC challenged both Big Titan and Gran Hamada to a triangle match tonight and even challenged World champion Masato Tanaka to be the special guest
referee! The match was signed and would be our main event tonight! What a match that is going to be!
We had another barn burner on our hands in our next contest as Colorado Kid locked horns with "The Juice" Juventud Guerrera. Both of these individuals have big matches set for Super Cade, and this one had huge implications in the
Television Title division. These guys put on a match that was near perfection. Between this match and the Storm/Shamrock battle, the fans in Chicago got their money's worth. This match could have gone either way, but a huge running
power bomb by Juvy was enough to just barely put Colorado Kid down. This was a huge victory for the Juice, but how will this loss affect C-Kid as he goes into the big Iron Man Match with Pierre Oulette at Super Cade?
The Headhunters are extremely pissed off, and they have every right in the world to be! The first ever World Tag Team champions were looking to regain the titles against Ace Darling & Devon Storm, and they very well could have had it not
been for Rhino and "Wonderkid" Jonny Storm. Rhino tripped up Headhunter A which was an immediate disqualification and pretty much saved Ace & Devon's title reign. All of the Extremists started beating on the Headhunters until Scott &
Steve Armstrong came in and broke things up. It was just two weeks ago that the Armstrongs beat the Headhunters for the titles and now they were standing tall together against the Extremists! We've learned that next week on Explosion,
the Headhunters will team with Steve & Scott Armstrong to take on the Extremists in an 8-man tag match.
Sebastian P. Sterling is a member of Team Perfection with The Perfect Creation, but he has yet to find that same killer instinct that his partner has, and it showed tonight against Indiana Kidd Jr. Sterling looked like his mind was
somewhere else besides this match as Indiana Kidd Jr. had an easy time in this one, picking up the win with the Indiana Bomb. After the match, The Perfect Creation hopped in the ring and helped his partner up, and then proceded to drop
him with the Spinning Northern Lights Bomb! TPC has absolutely snapped, turning on his only friend here in the GLW! Mike White questioned TPC about his actions, and he received a punch in the mouth! TPC began calling out Big Titan &
Gran Hamada for our main event as Sterling and White were helped from ringside.
All of the parties got down to the ring, and our triangle match with The Perfect Creation, Big Titan, and Gran Hamada was on, with World champion Masato Tanaka of course being the special guest referee. This match turned out to just be a
huge brawl. All 3 of these guys were trying to take a piece out of each other, and I don't think any one else besides Masato Tanaka could have kept this one in order. Near the end of the contest, Hamada and TPC were in the ring. TPC
nailed Big Titan with a superkick knocking him off the apron and into the guardrail. TPC left the ring and grabbed a chair and went in to use it on Hamada. TPC loaded the shot up but Tanaka grabbed the chair from him. TPC was none too
happy about this as Tanaka admonished him. Eventually, TPC slapped Tanaka right in the mouth! Tanaka forgot that he was a ref for a moment and went to nail TPC with the chair, but "Greatness Himself" ducked the shot and Tanaka hit his
friend Gran Hamada instead! TPC covered Hamada and yelled at Tanaka to make the count, who reluctantly did. TPC gets a huge win here tonight as he pinned the man he will take on at Super Cade, Gran Hamada. He didn't get much time to
celebrate though as Big Titan reentered the ring and kicked him in the gut, and then planted him with the Power Bomb! Tanaka ran at Titan and hit him with a flurry of punches, but ended up catching the same fate as Titan Power Bombed him
as well. The show came to an end as Titan stood tall in the ring.
