Hello,
As another year draws to a close, I find myself relishing the
past and looking forward to the future. I find that the fabric of
both cherished memories past and future adventures is weaved from
interactions with friends, family, and colleagues, like yourself.
In light of this, I'd like to thank you for your contribution to
my well-being (I'd like to think that I have contributed somewhat
to yours too!). Let's all aspire to re-double our efforts to
improve the net well-being of the earth as a whole and of it's
occupants in the coming year.
With these thoughts in mind, I would like to wish you the
traditional
Merry Christmas and
Happy New Year!
Interesting things that happened to me in 1995:
- I was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in the Naval
Reserve
- I volunteered to teach an American Red Cross Lifesaving
class at a local pool
- I received my eleven gallon pin from the American Red
Cross for reaching that threshold of lifetime blood
donations
- I had an ambition to run a marathon this year, but gave
up training after building up to 15-miles, because it was
very hard on my knees
- I became certified to teach American Red Cross courses in
Standard First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer
- I joined the Potomac Pedalers, the largest bike club in
the country (my longest ride this year was about 85
miles)
- I played on two softball teams. This was the first
organized softball I've played in 14 years. My formerly
above-average batting skills have significantly
diminished over those 14 years
- I went water skiing for the first time in 20 years and
snow skiing for the first time in 6 years
- I had many visitors here at Camp Eric--Washington. 23
different people spent a total 84 person-nights here. I
hope to exceed those totals in '96!
- After completing a 70 hour training course, I began
serving as a volunteer crisis hotline counselor for four
hours per week
