Hello,
Our favorite time of the year once again!
We
love reflecting on the many joyous times of Christmases past and enjoying the
blessings of the present. We hope that your blessings approach or exceed
ours.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Here's what we've been up to in
2002:
- Employment: Eric continues to operate his company,
Altruist
Financial Advisors LLC. They provide financial planning and
asset management
services to individuals in a highly ethical manner at a very low cost. His
advice is completely objective since he doesn't take any
commissions (and in fact doesn't sell anything
— so
people can trust him). Perhaps the most unique thing about Altruist is its
complete satisfaction money-back guarantee. The company has a good web
site linked to above.
Melissa continues as a part-time nurse at Butterworth Hospital in Grand
Rapids, MI.
- Vacations: We spent two
weeks at our family's cottage in NW Michigan on beautiful
Crystal Lake. We also spent a week at our
favorite summer camp, Camp Michigania.
- Athletics: Our son participated in baseball,
basketball, soccer, swimming, tennis, and wrestling. Our daughter
played soccer and participated in ballet for the first time.
- Navy: Eric's still a
Commander in the Navy Reserve. Eric regularly makes the trek to
Washington DC to do his duty.
- Good first run movies
seen: Castaway, The Importance of Being Earnest.
- Good books read: This year Eric read
(most of these were read to our children): Pudd'n Head Wilson (Twain), A
Journey to the Center of the Earth (Verne), Tom Sawyer Abroad (Twain),
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Carroll), Treasure Island (Stevenson), The
Metamorphosis (Kafka), Flatland (Abbott), Through the Looking Glass
(Carroll), Gulliver's Travels (Swift), Fooled by Randomness (Taleb), The
Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (Milne), A House at Pooh Corner (Milne).
- A highlight this summer was that
some local bees built a beehive under the eave of our pole barn. We'd
never seen a natural beehive before. Our daughter was certain it
couldn't have been a beehive because it wasn't yellow (as they are in Winnie
the Pooh illustrations).
Smile & Be Happy!
