Game 7 Summary: Potomac 64 Our Lady Of Good Counsel 45
January 28, 2000 - The Potomac
Intermediate School basketball team beat Our Lady of Good Counsel 64-45 at Sports Night for the Potomac Basketball Teams at the Chester Gym. For those that don't know, OLGC is a Catholic School Team from Vienna. They are considered one of the best teams in the CYO league in this area. They graciously agreed to play Potomac at the last minute when the regularly scheduled team had to pull out due to a conflict. |
The game started out as a real struggle. Both teams played hard, keeping the game close most of the first quarter. Late in the quarter Potomac made a charge to go up by six 17-11. In the second quarter, the Panthers extended their lead by creating turnovers and converting them into fast break points. The Panthers led at the half by 11 points 30-19. |
In the second half, Potomac stayed consistent on offense, scoring double digits in each quarter to keep the game out of reach for OLGC. The Panthers held OLGC to only 6 points in the third quarter allowing them to entend their lead to 21 points at the end of the quarter 46-25. In the fourth quarter, OLGC's full court press finally got Potomac rattled, allowing them to score at will. The Panthers kept their composure though and went on a scoring binge of their own to finish the game strong. |
Brent Locey led the way for Potomac with 17 points, followed by Michael Fischer (12), Chris McNerney (10), Marcus Ginyard (9), and JD Deardourff (8). The panthers dished out 18 assists during the game. Brent Locey had 5 followed by Michael Fischer and Marcus Ginyard with 4 a piece. In the steal department, Pete Dalla and Brent Locey had 3 each. Potomac also had 7 block shots during the game, JD Deardourff and Marcus Ginyard had 2 each. |
