1999 Potomac 7th Grade Basketball
Game 9 Summary: Potomac 48 Landon
21
February 11, 1999 - In the ninth game of the season, the
Potomac 7th grade basketball team beat Landon 48-21 on the road. |
This game started out in slow motion and continued through the first half.
Both teams seemed to be trying to figure out what the other team was going to do
instead of just attacking. The result was a low scoring first half where not many
shots were taken. Potomac held the lead 14-11 at the half. In the third quarter, the Panthers got on track by playing great defense and attacking the basket. Potomac outscored Landon 11-1 in the quarter to take a commanding lead. In the fourth quarter, Landon started being more aggressive on the offensive end scoring more points, but they couldn't slow Potomac down to cut into the lead. In the end, Potomac had an impressive 27 point win on the road after a heart breaking defeat at St Albans a day earlier. Potomac's scoring effort was led by Michael Fischer with 14 points, followed by Brent Locey with 8. Jason Aqui and Michael Murphy scored 6 points each. JD Deardourff, Brent Locey and Chris McNerney combined for 6 block shots that sparked an excellent defensive effort. Potomac's record improves to 7-2 for the season with the win.
