Tai Chi Chuan
Tai Chi Chuan
is a combat and therapeutic skill, a complete medical method.
Tai Chi means
‘the ultimate end’ or ‘the ultimate idea’, a concept or law by which things
happen and which is reflected in all the things and processes happening
in our surroundings.
Practising
Tai Chi Chuan enables us to develop the coordination of movement and accumulation
of energy that can be used both in combat and other every-day situautinos.
Tai Chi helps us to skillfully control our physical and mental framework
which is the underlying prerequisite for the development of our inner self.
Because the movements are subtle and slow, Tai Chi Chuan is also reffered
to as ‘meditation in movement’.
Tai Chi Chuan
helps us to become dynamic and vital, but that shouldn’t be its primary
goal. The main goal of Tai Chi is to simplify the approach and activities
related to our priorities by raising the level of vitality.

"Chi
Kung" Traditional Chinese breathing exercises-Chinese
health gymnastics
Chi is an
universal term which has no adequate counterparts in any other language.
This is why it can not be translated literally. The most common translation
is ‘vital energy’. Chi can also be translated as ‘electromagnetic energy’,
‘flowing warmth’ or ‘inner energy’. Energy is considered to fill all the
space around us and within us. The energy which is in us and in other human
beings, plants and animals is thought to be vital energy.
Oxygen and
breathing is of great significance in Chi. The muscles get the energy
to work from nutritious substances which release carbon-dioxide when broken
down. It is needless to say that oxygen is neccessary for this chemical
process. If the muscles are heavily strained, deep and accurate breathing
will provide the necessary oxygen needed by the mucles in uncustomary circumstances.
Chi Kung exercises will enable the flow of higher quantities of oxygen
to the muscles, which is a presumption for the their regular and uncustomary
activity.
Kung means
‘work and Chi means ‘vital energy’. Kung-fu is a term which literally means
‘a man who does something (very skillfully)’. Chi Kung therefore means
‘a man who works hard and tries to develop and master his Chi energy’.
Man is alive because of the Chi energy. As long as this energy flows without
obstuction through the meridians of the body, man is healthy and his positive
and negative energies are balanced. Sound health is the result of the harmony
between Ying and Yang and of the unobstructed flow of vital energy.
Many exercisae
programs enable us to attain a balanced energy level and an unblocked flow
of vital energy through the body. These exercises will help us to feel
the flow of energy, rise the level of resistance and helth and develop
our ability to control and direct the energy and ourselves. Once the energy
is controlled and directed it can be used in various situations: to heal
if one is a doctor, to fight if one is in combat, to speak if one is a
speaker.
Chi gives provides
us with an outstanding skill, the ability to project the energy outside
our body and maintain a helthy state of the body and soul.
