Both teams played extremely well, with the home field advantage (+1 Point for the Coquis) being the deciding factor. Portugal's only representant in Pele's League, the Oporto Eagles, defeated the Randolph Blue Devils, as the Eagles scored 49 points in route to a 49-36 win. RB Ricky Watters led the way for the Eagles, while the Blue Devils had some problems in the lineup, as the injured Mark Brunell was listed as their starting QB. And in the last game of Week 1, the PIMP C's REAL G'S beat the Ithaca Isolators in a shoot-out, 90-81. The REAL G'S played just a little better, benefiting from strong performances by QB Drew Bledsoe, WR Jimmy Smith and K Jasom Elam. The Isolators fought very hard, and they almost got the win with good games by WR Tim Brown, QB Jeff George and WR Cris Carter, but the REAL G's were just too much for them.
