AICCF DONATES PRIZES AT THE BOMBAY ENTRANTS DIVISION TOURNAMENT

AICCF donated prizes to winners of the Bombay Entrants Division, the well known OTB event, where beginning players attempt to make their mark at the Local, District, State and National levels. In addition to cups for the 3 prize winners , AICCF gave a free 1-year subscription to the AICCF Bulletin to the 15 players who qualified to the next level, the Bombay Senior Division. Dr. Chatterjee, The AICCF Bulletin Editor, gave away the prizes and Shri P.S.Dabholkar, AICCF Management Committee Member was also present on the dais.

AICCF understands that encouragement from the start is a very important aspect for prospective growth of new players. OTB and CC are only two branches of the same tree. In both aspects of the game, players interest in the game grows by study, reading and practice. The former two are more important in CC and the latter in OTB. Since OTB and CC go hand in hand, AICCF considers it worthwhile to give away such prizes.

Readers will be interested to note (as reported already) that AICCF has applied for affiliation to All India Chess Federation. We have not yet obtained final word about this from AICF.
