CCSN (Community College Soccer Nevada) men's soccer team begins tryouts on April 27, 28, & 29th, May 9th, 11th, 12th, May 13th, 18th, 19th, May 20th at the Las Vegas Silver Bowl complex (east side of the field). Tryouts will run from 5:30 to 7:30 on weekdays and from 12:00 to 2:30 PM on Week-Ends. All tryouts will be held on the far east fields of the Silver Bowl Complex on the corner of Russell and Boulder Highway. Manny Rivera will be the head coach for the CCSN men's team this year. Dr. Rich Logsdon and Rick Freeman will be assistants. Manny Rivera has played and coached soccer most of his life. Currently the head coach of Juventude, one of the top open league men's team in the state, Manny has coached several U-19 teams to state titles in the past six years. Before coming to southern Nevada, Manny coached club and college soccer in Southern California. An English professor at the college, Dr. Logsdon has been involved in coaching soccer for twenty years. He currently coaches Genesis F. C. in the Premiere Division of the Las Vegas Premiere Soccer League, the top open league in the state. Last year, Dr. Logsdon helped run the CCSN men's team , which finished the season 18-5-1. This course has been developed to provide the most current and advanced information on the growth and development of the youth soccer players. This course consist of five days of classroom and field instruction and one day of comprehensive written and pratical examinations. The instruction for the course is age specific. Each day of the course is entirely devoted to the physical, psychological and social characteristics displayed by children of a specific age. Lecture sessions are presented each morning prior to the field sessions and deal with psycomotor, cognitive and psycological development of each age group. the field sessions involve pratical demostrations of techniques and methods for training each age group. Each evening candidates gather in study groups with the instructors to anlyze and critique video tapes of their sessions. The cost of this course is $525.00 for members and $575.00 for non-members. Applicants must be at least 18 year of age, and earned a 'D' level licence or an NSCAA National Diploma. waivers of this pre-requisite will be considered on an individual basis.
