Homenetmen of New York's Basketball team won a record third championship in the seven years of the games.

New York beat Boston in the Championship game 76-62 after trailing at half time 26-37. In the tournament New York was by far the best team, had the tallest team, and best talent. Yet at times it did not look like New York could win.

New York played Detroit in the first game of the tournament. Detroit had three junior players on its roster of seven, yet was holding its own in the game.

New York had a 16-12 lead at half time and was playing a very unorganized game.

In the second half Detroit took the lead and held it with 1:30 minutes remaining. That is when New York finally woke up and stopped Detroit.

Detroit was up 5 points when New York scored a 3 pointer by Scott Zakian to cut the lead to 2. Arek Papelian scored the next 4 points all on free throws to put New York up 2; 36-34. Detroit had one last chance to tie or with it, but never got the shot as time ran out. New York was very fortunate to escape the game with a win.

New York's next opponent was New Jersey. New York which held a team meeting after thier disappointing first game win turned things around early. New York had an 11-1 lead three minute into the game. New York took advantage of its height by grabbing the rebounds and turning them into fastbreak layups. New York won 52-37 and had a 29-13 lead at half time.

Chicago was thier next opponent in the semi-finals. Last year Chicago beat a split New York team to win the championship. This year New York did not split its team into 2 even strength teams this year. The team was put together from day one as one strong team to win the championship.

Chicago had some height but lacked New York's speed. Again it was too much height and speed that put Chicago away. New York's fastbreaks were unstoppable as the lead was 10 at half time; 33-22.

Second half was all the same, the lead grew to 24 points at one time. The final score was 63-48.

The Finals were played with 20 minutes of stop time compared to the other games where only the last 2 minutes of each half were stop time.

This game resembled the Detroit game in the first half. New York was not able to go on fastbreaks and was having Boston run fastbreaks on them.

Boston which has never won the men's basketball championship was looking for its first in 4 tries. New York went in at half time trailing by 11 points; 37-26.

In the second half New York started to turn things around, however it took them 10 minutes to finally take the lead.

The lead switched sides several times before Boston built the lead back to 5 points.

With cheers of "Defense" from their supporters, New York went on to take the lead and held it for good with less then five minutes remaining.

With the lead, New York was able to stop Boston on 5 staight possessions. The team was now able to run its fastbreak offense and had a lead of 16 points with less than a minute remaining.

The final score was New York 76, Boston 62. New York scored an incredible 50 points in the second half to Boston's 25. Scott Zakian lead all scores with 30 points, Arek Papelian had 16, Eddie Shamlian finished with 15. Homenetmen of New York's Soccer team captured second place at the Regional Games.

New York lost 4-0 to Toronto. The two teams had faced each other in the preliminary round; Toronto won that game 6-0.

New York played its first game against last year's champions Washington. The game was a battle from the beginning. New York took the early lead 1-0 on a goal by Ara Manougian after 15 minutes of play. First half finished with New York leading 1-0.

In the second half New York converted on a penalty kick by Ara Piramzadian at the 65th minute. Washington came back with a late goal in the 80th minute but could not due any further damage as New York won the game 2-1.

New York next played Toronto on Saturday morning. Having to play two games in the same day and already having clinched a postition in the next round and having some injuries New York rested most a it's key players, and lost 6-0 to Toronto. Half time score was 2-0.

Toronto on Friday had tied Washington 2-2 and needed two win this game to advance to the next round. A loss or a tie would have put Washington in the semi-finals.

New York played Montreal in the semi-final game. Montreal had won it's division over Boston on goal differences.

The game was a scoreles tie after 45 minutes of play and remained tied until 82 minutes. New York took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Massis Harzivartyanook from 30 yards out. The shot hit the cross bar bounced behind the goal line and bounced back up hitting the inside of the net.

Montreal which had beatin Boston 6-1 put a lot of pressure but could not get the equalizer. With 2 minutes remaining, Ara Manougian scored from 20 yards out on a free kick. The goal was placed beautifully over the wall and into the top left corner under the cross bar on the short side.

The finals were played on Sunday in front of a large crowd that had gathered to watch the games and the closing ceremonies.

Toronto took a 2-0 half time lead, and scored twice again to win the championship.
