This sport began to write its history in Trnava in October 1987 when one of the students of the Slovak Technical University (STU), Ivan Stastny took the initiative and with the help of Roman Danko, Peter Kudelka, Lubo Kral, Lubo Baricic, Boris Kando and Bystrik Loprais founded a softball team, which became a part of the Sport Union (TJ STU).
These people convinced their friends and other enthusiasts of this beautiful sport who joined the team later on. We should mention those who helped to developed baseball in Trnava the most. They are: Ronald Kupka, Jozef Galik, Fero Cambal, Igor Baranovic, Marian Zavodny, Roman Soubusta, Martin Mozer, Martin Zilinsky, Juan Telez Videaux a Marcel Ostrovsky.
After three years of existence, in 1991, a decision was made to switch from softball to more dynamic, and physically more demanding sport baseball.
The Club also work with youngsters, and besides the senior team we also have the team of
juveniles,
cadets and
juniors. Since 1996 we've been working with children of the first grade of the elementary schools in Trnava, and teaching them how to play T-ball, which is simple form of baseball for the little ones.
The Angels practice and play their home championship games of the Slovak Baseball League (SBL), on the first Slovak official baseball field, which is located in the sport complex of the TJ STU. This field was pronounced as the official field by the
Confederation of European Baseball (CEB)
in 1996. The part of this field is also the softball field where practice and play women's softball team
TJ STU Trnava Panthers,
who are the successors of the old men's softball team.
