July 13, 1999 - The Vienna Warhawks 13 Year Old Boys County Select Team beat Lee District 66-52 at Madison High School in the Fairfax Stars Summer league.

The Warhawks came out in their famous 1-3-1 trap defense to take an early lead, but Lee District would go on a run that would close the gap to just two points midway through the half. Vienna would get back on track to take a commanding 43-22 half time lead.

The Warhawks switched to a man to man defense in the second half which allowed Lee District to close the gap to eight points, but Vienna tightened up and won by 14 points. Even though the coaches feel the Warhawks are not playing good team man to man defense right now, the team needs to work it into their plan each game in order for the players to get the exposure they need to play at the next level.

All the Vienna players scored in the game. Three players scored in double figures, led by Chris Holmes with 12 points followed by Stuart Rawlinson (12) and Ryan Boyer (10). Bill Chappell led the team in rebounds with 7, and Brent Locey led the team in assists (5) and Steals (3).

The Warhawks record improved to 2-0 with the win. The next game is Thursday July 15 at 7:15pm at Jackson Middle School against Springfield. Go Warhawks
