Select Team officially opened their 1999/2000 season yesterday in the Braddock Road
Thanksgiving Tournament at Frost Middle School with an exciting 57-51 win over Chantilly. |
| The Warhawks took an early lead by playing great defense, controlling the boards, and working the ball on offense. It was all Vienna in the first half with the Warhawks leading 27-11 at the half. |
| The second half was completely different. Derek Feussner and Brent Locey got into early foul trouble and Chantilly pressed hard scoring point after point off Vienna turnovers. Chantilly finally took over the lead at 48-47 with 3 minutes to play. Vienna toughened up and got some steals of their own, turning them into some important buckets down the stretch. The Warhawks also shot well from the line at the end of the game to preserve the victory.
Brent Locey lead Vienna in scoring with 15 points, followed by Derek Feussner(10) and Chris McNerney(8). Locey and McNerney each had 11 rebounds. Locey also had 7 assists and 7 steals. |
