Cloone Parish Outline.
To the left is an outline of Cloone parish in relation to
Co. Leitrim. The parish of Cloone occupies c.12,000 acres. The
village lies roughly in the center of the parish which is about 8
miles north to south by 4 miles east to west. The village is
situated on a low ridge just north of the main Mohill to
Carrigallen road. The view northwards from the village street is
impressive: From the edge of the street one looks down on two
small lakes set in an expanse of brown bogland which extends
about a mile to the foot of small greenhills which extend away
into the blue-brown Slieve-an-Iarann and Cuilcagh mountains far
to the north.
The parish is fairly populous and contains some very good farming
land.
