 ersonal protection training is taken very seriously at our Canine Specialties. We believe many people do not know what they are asking for when they request a protection trained dog. They have never seen what a quality trained dog can do. These dogs are a huge liability if properly trained and they can, in fact, force you to change your entire lifestyle.
The first thing we ask of clients is a waiver of responsibility for both the dog and the training.
With that said, here is what we offer in the way of training and dogs.
We can offer our clients currently 3 different programs for Security training and 3 didfferent types of for sale or placement dogs that are already trained
Training classes: for those of you that want to take an active part in training your own dog. These classes are held on Saturday evenings and are geared toward a "class" situation with the dogs getting worked at least twice during the session. You bring the dog and we go from there. Drop in classes are paid by the month and are $100 per month.
Individual training sessions: for those of you that can not fit the classes into your schedule or you might want specialized, personal training. This training is by appointment only and is usually a 30 to 45 minute session. (Most dogs can not maintain proper intensity for longer sessions). Currently we are accepting individual training on weekday nights and Saturday (Mid-days) only. Cost for this type of training is $45.00 per session. It does not require class obedience first.
Drop off training: This is what many refer to as "Contract training" You drop the dog off at the kennel and we will train your dog to pre-arranged specifications. This is most popular with some of our Obedience clients but can also be done with Protection training. Prices on this service vary greatly, from $250 for 2 weeks to $500 for the month. A good rule of thumb is about $125 per week for ANY protection training. Your dog will be trained to specifications. This means we will train as many times and as often as it takes to get the dog to set specifications.
We can import or sell you a dog already trained and ready to go for those of you that have specific needs and need a dog for an immediate problem.
We can also rent you a dog for specific problem that calls for immediate (usually temporary) needs. This is for good reason, our most expensive service offered. Because these dogs are put into usually hostile situations immediately upon arrival, we ask several prerequisites before renting a dog into this kind of environment, in the form of waivers and assumption of responsibilities for this dogs' actions..
We also have a maintenance program available for dogs already sold or needed to be kept sharp for what ever the reason. This fee is $100 per month and includes at least 2 in-home or onsite visits from a member of our staff, to keep the dog sharp and trained.
