Eagles get big road win

Aberdeen Central opened up a tight game in the fourth quarter by hitting on 15 of 17 freethrows in the period to post a 50-39 ESD victory over the Brandon Valley Lynx on Saturday night in Brandon. Laura Graf was able to cause problems for Brandon Valley with her quickness, penetrating many times and was able to score or draw fouls, which played to one of the Eagles' strengths, freethrow shooting. The Eagles were also able to score effectively in transition early in the game, the Lynx press giving up some easy baskets thanks to good ball handling and good passing from the Central guards. Offensive rebounding by Brandon Valley in the first half allowed the Lynx to stay close to the Eagles, but a better job of getting to the boards by the Eagles in the second half limited Brandon Valley's scoring opportunities. Dawn Sillman and Emily Graf paced the Eagles with 14 points each. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-4 and face Milbank on Thursday night in Milbank before hosting Brandon Valley on Friday.
