How To Use Dr. Vasta's Web Site

 

1. Get on the Internet (World Wide Web) and in the "location" space bar type in the following address:

http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Union/3668

2. Click on the down arrow at the bottom right of your screen with your mouse to navigate down the page. As you move the mouse across the screen, the mouse cursor will look like either an "arrow" or a small "hand." The "hand" indicates a "link" to another page of the site. Double-click the "hand" and it will take you to a new page.

 

 

How To Obtain Course Information

 

1. Navigate down the home page to the bold face heading, "Curriculum." Double-click with your mouse the link "courses on line." The page you will be brought to is entitled "Course Overview."

2. On the overview page, double-click the last link, "daily planner."

3. The daily planner is a week by week account of the course, Historical Trends in American Education. Simply double-click on a particular topic to obtain the handout, lecture notes, or sample assessments used in class.

For Extra Credit

 

1. On the home page under the last bold face heading, "Your Turn," double-click the link "hot topics."

2. On the "hot topics" page, double-click any active link to obtain information about the specific topic. The topics are issues currently being debated within education locally and nationally.

3. Extra credit may be obtained in one of the following ways:
a. do the brief assignment, if one is provided;
b. write a brief reaction to the topic using at least one outside source as your point of reference;
c. find and submit at least three web sites dealing with the topic (be sure to have visit the sites and be prepared to defend their worth)

4. To submit extra credit, double-click "message board" located at the bottom of the hot topics page or at the bottom of the home page. On the message board page, there is room for the student to "sign in" with his/her response.
