also earned her All-State honors by placing in the top 10. Tiffany was followed closely by her sister, Tara, who was 11th in a time of 18:30. The following women also ran PRs: Susie Welty ran 18:37 (16th), Heather Lee ran 18:47 (21st), Danielle Giorgianni ran 18:50 (23rd), Jenny Nickles ran 18:55 (29th) and Sarah Steele ran 20:09 (65th). The whole Women's team ran an outstanding race. Congrats to ALL!

The men also showed marked improvement from their last competition as their times continued to drop. Andrew Smith led the way for the CU Men Harriers by finishing 7th with a time of 25:09 for 8km. This earned Andrew All-State Honor's for cracking the top ten. He was closely followed by Senior Mark Ragase who was 16th (25:26). Ryan Richmond also ran a solid race in finishing 28th (26:01). Freshman Hugh Ferry from Kingston, Canada is also showing gradual improvement by posting a PR of 27:04 and finishing 66th.

This will be Campbell's last race until the TAAC Championship on Saturday, October 30th. TAAC will be at UCF in Orlando, Florida. Both team races promise to be very competitive and close. As Coach Frenette is fond of saying, "it will all come down to Nickles and dimes". Both programs are training well and racing great, with their sights set on racing their best at the TAAC.

Lee Wins Prestigious Award

Freshman standout Heather Lee has been selected 1999 Outstanding Junior Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year by Athletics Alberta. Athletics Alberta presents the awards annually to athletes from Alberta who compete in track and field, cross country and road running events. Lee ran cross country for the Dr. E.P. Scatlett High School in Calgary.During her high school career, Lee finished seventh in the 1500 meters (4:37) at the Canadian Junior Nationals on the track and posted a 16th place at last fall's Canadian Junior Cross Country Nationals. After four events with Campbell University this year, Lee has been the team's fastest runner twice. The freshman recorded a season-best time of 18:47 at the NC Collegiate Championships. "Heather is having an exceptional freshman campaign," says fellow Canadian Ken Frenette, who is in his 11th year at the helm of the Campbell Cross Country teams. "She has been training well and it has shown in her results this year." Lee and the other award winners will be honored at the Cheemo Athletics Alberta Annual Awards Evening on Saturday, November 13th in Edmonton.
