The 1999 TAAC Championships, Oct. 30, 1999 in Orlando, FL The 1999 TAAC XC Championships was hosted by UCF in Orlando, FL. As was to be expected it turned out to be a close race for both the men's and women's division. The CU women Harrier's had their highest finish ever in a conference championship by placing second. Junior Susie Welty from Quito, Ecuador lead the way for the CU Women Harrier's as she ran an impressive race to finish 4th to gain All-TAAC honors. Joining Susie in making All-TAAC was sophmore Tiffany Quinn (10th) from Waterdown, Ontario. Senior's Danielle Giorgianni (13th), Jenny Nickles (18th) and Amanda Murnen (22nd) also raced strong in their final TAAC XC appearance. The Men's race proved to be even closer than the Women's with Georgia State and Samford tying for first place with 55 points. Campbell place third only 5 points away from first with 60 points. Once again sophmore Andrew Smith from Ontario, Canada finished 3rd, earning him All-TAAC honor. Joining him was senior Mark Ragase in 5th place, and sophmore Ryan Richmond from Morrisville, NY who had a breakthrough race and finished a strong sixth. The Men and Women Harriers had a total of five individuals earn All-Conference Honors, which is a record for CU Harrier History and the most of any school at the 1999 TAAC Championships. Both the Men's and the Women's teams raced strongly at the TAAC Championships to cap off another outstanding season of XC racing in the creek. With this in |
