The Kingdom of Bohemia - founded in the 10th century - was united with the
Archduchy - later Empire - of Austria in a personal union in 1526.
Although a fiction of independence was maintained it was in fact an Austian
dependency until 1849, when it became a separate Kronland of the Monarchy,
enjoying a certain degree of selfgovernment from 1861 to 1913.
