WHO YOU ARE MAKES A DIFFERENCE
Author Unknown
One night a man came home to his 14 yr old son and sat him down. He said, "The most incredible thing happened to me today. I was in my office and one of the junior executives came in and told me that he admired me and gave me a blue ribbon, for being a creative genius.

Imagine. He thinks I am a creative genius. Then he put this blue ribbon that says 'Who I am makes a difference' on my jacket above my heart. Then he gave me an extra ribbon and asked me to find somebody else to honor."

As I was driving home tonight, I started thinking about whom I would honor with this ribbon and I thought about you. I want to honor you.

"My days are really hectic, and when I come home, I don't pay a lot of attention to you. Sometimes I scream at you for not getting enough good grades in school and for your bedroom being a mess. But for somehow tonight, I just wanted to sit here and, well, just let you know that you do make a difference to me."

"Besides your mother, you are the most important person in my life. YOU'RE A GREAT KID AND I LOVE YOU!"

The boy started to sob and sob, and he couldn't stop crying. His whole body shook, and he looked up at his father and said through his broken tears, "I was planning on committing suicide tomorrow, Dad, because I didn't think you loved me. Now I don't need to do that."

Daily tell somebody you care!

I would like to share a story about my son. It was 1997 and he was 13 yrs old. He asked me if I wouldn't mind taking him to the local store he wanted to get a new tape that had come out. As tired as I was, I said "sure lets go".

Well after spending what seemed to be forever in the store looking for this particular tape, my son said "ok Mom I am ready to go."
We got into the car and he asked if I wouldn't mind if he played a song for me. So he put a song on and I immediately started to cry. It was called "A Song For Mama." After the song was finished my wonderful, sweet, kind son turned to me and said, "Mom I am so glad that last year you survived, because if you were not here I surely would have died." I realized it was almost a year since the night I had tried to take my life. I started to cry even harder. It was because of them I am still here and ironic enough he was here because I LOVED HIM.

At the time both of my sons were in the car and my youngest son decided he also would tell me that I had made the difference for him too. If I was not there they would not have anyone. Their father had basically given up on them and they only had me.

Out of the mouths of babes, comes more truth than sometimes we want to hear. Everytime I start to feel I am not making a difference in my life, all I have to do is look into their faces and I realize the greatest thing I have ever done and will ever do, stands in front of me and says "MOM, I LOVE YOU."

I guess you can say the story "Who you are makes a difference", happened in my life.

I NEVER MISS A DAY THAT I DON'T HUG MY SONS AND TELL THEM I LOVE THEM.

Those of us in the emergency services sometimes take our families for granted knowing they will always be there and they could never understand how hard our day was. But, what I have realized over the last 5 yrs of being a single mom, there is nothing more important than my boys, my mom and my grandmother. They are who I am. The keep me grounded and keep me honest. So when I get that call on 911 and have to put my whole heart into the call, I know when I go home my family is there with a hug and a smile. Sometimes a frown and an arguement but, all of it is music to this Mom's ears.

GOD TRULY HAS BLESSED ME WITH A WONDERFUL FAMILY AND A WONDERFUL NETWORK OF FRIENDS.

AN ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER

Smiled up at me today
I needed a friend,
And the angel said
He would never go away
At times in my life
I have felt so alone
I could not keep
My tears from falling
But now I know
I am guided by love
When I hear my angel calling
In all of those moments
When I felt pain and sorrow
And I thought no one could hear
My angel gave me courage and strength
He was not gone, he was near
Yes, we all have times in our lives
When holding on is hard to do
But you are never alone,
with an angel by your side
He is there to see you through
So, when your world keeps on turning
And many things do not seem to make sense
Just remember, your angel is there by your side
Close your eyes and feel his presence.

Just Smile

Smiling is infectious,
you catch it like the flu.
When someone smiled at
me today, I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner,
and someone saw my grin -
When he smiled I realized,
I'd passed it on to him.
I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine,
could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.

Let's start an epidemic quick
and get the world infected.

I REFUSE TO BE DISCOURAGED

I refuse to be discouraged,
To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted,
And here's the reason why....

I have a God who's mighty,
Who's sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me,
An I am on His team.

He is wise and powerful,
Jesus is his name;
Though everything is changeable,
My God remains the same.

My God knows all that's happening;
Beginning to the end,
His presence is my comfort,
He is my dearest friend.

When sickness come to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God;
Into his arms I go.

When circumstances threaten to rob me from my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast,
Where all my strivings cease.

And when my heart melts within me,
And weakness takes control;
He gathers me into his arms,
He soothes my heart and soul.

The great "I Am" is with me,
My life is in his hand,
The "Son of the Lord" is my hope,
It's in his strength I stand.

I refuse to be defeated,
My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me,
As through this life I trod.

I'm looking past all my circumstances,
To Heaven's throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God,
I am resting in His love.

I give God thanks in everything,
My eyes are on his face;
The battle's His,
The victory is mine;
He'll help me win the race.

YOU STILL HAVE HOPE

If you can look at the sunset and smile,
then you still have hope.

If you can find beauty in the colors of a small flower,
then you still have hope.

If you can find pleasure in the movement of a butterfly,
then you still have hope.

If the smile of a child can still warm your heart, then you still have hope.

If you can see the good in other people, then you still have hope.

If the rain breaking on a roof top can still lull you to sleep,
then you still have hope.

If the sight of a rainbow still makes you stop and stare in wonder,
then you still have hope.

If the soft fur of a favored pet still feels pleasant under your fingertips,
then you still have hope.

If you meet new people with a trace of excitement and optimism,
then you still have hope.

If you give people the benefit of a doubt,
then you still have hope.

If you still offer your hand in friendship to others that have touched your life,
then you still have hope.

If receiving an unexpected card or letter still brings a pleasant surprise,
then you still have hope.

If the suffering of others still fills you with pain and frustration,
then you still have hope.

If you refuse to let a friendship die, or accept that it must end,
then you still have hope.

If you look forward to a time or place of quiet and reflection,
then you still have hope.

If you still buy the ornaments, put up the Christmas tree or cook the turkey,
then you still have hope.

If you still watch love stories or want the endings to be happy,
then you still have hope.

If you can look to the past and smile,
then you still have hope.

If, when faced with the bad, when told everything is futile,
you can still look up and end the conversation with the phrase...
"yeah....BUT.." then you still have hope

Hope is such a marvelous thing.
It bends, it twists, it sometimes hides,
but rarely does it break.
It sustains us when nothing else can.
It gives us reason to continue and courage to move ahead,
when we tell ourselves we'd rather give in.

Hope puts a smile on our face when the heart cannot manage.

Hope puts our feet on the path when our eyes cannot see it.
Hope moves us to act when our souls are confused of the direction.

Hope is a wonderful thing,
something to be cherished and nurtured,
and something that will refresh us in return.
And it can be found in each of us,
and it can bring light into the darkest of places.
NEVER LOOSE HOPE!

"NEVER GIVE UP"
Author Unknown
Though your troubles may be many,
and your joys be very few,
Never give up your battles
there's victory in store for you.

Though you may try your best,
and never win or gain,
remember you have a purpose,
a single goal to claim..
Even when the chips are down,
and no one's on your side,
you'll always have something,
you'll always have your pride..

And when your dreams turn to dust,
and the wind blows them away,
there is always tomorrow,
tomorrow's a new day.

So never think life is worthless
never think of yourself as poor,
for what lies ahead in the future,
No one knows for sure...
SO NEVER GIVE UP

THE PARADOX

Author Unknown

The paradox of our time in history is,
That we have taller buildings,
But shorter tempers;

We have wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less;
We buy more, but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families;
More conveniences, but less time;

We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;

More experts, but more problems;
More medicine, but less wellness.

We drink to much, smoke to much,
Spend to recklessly,laugh to little,
Drive to fast,get to angry too quickly,
Stay up to late,get up to tired,
Read to seldom,watch TV to much,and pray to seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions,but reduced our values.
We talk to much,love to seldom,and hate to often.

We've learned how to make a living,but not a life;
We've added years to life,not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back,
But have trouble crossing the street,
To meet the new neighbor.
We've conquered outer space,but not inner space.

We've done larger things,but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air,but polluted the soul.
We've split the atom,but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less.
We plan more, but accomplish less.
We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information
To produce more copies than ever,
But have less communication.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion;
Tall men, and short character;
Steep profits, and shallow relationships.
These are the times of world peace,
But domestic warfare;
More leisure, but less fun;
More kinds of food, but less nutrition.

These are days of two incomes, but more divorce;
Of fancier houses, but broken homes.
These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers,
Throw away morality, one-night stands,
Overweight bodies, and pills that do everything,
From cheer to quiet, to kill.

It is a time when there is much in the show window
And nothing in the stockroom;
A time when technology can bring this letter to you,
And a time when you can choose,
Either to share this insight,
Or to just hit delete.

I CHOOSE NOT TO DELETE BUT SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD!
