A Little Bit About Me

My given name isn't really Reardenmetal. It's Constance, which is nice, but no one but my wife calls me that. For the rare slow-witted visitor to this page, we are both women. Carolyn and I have been together since 1992, when we met in the hallway of the wretched student flop-house we both lived in. Poverty has its rewards! Here is a pic of the two of us from that September, when we hooked up. I did feel like we were walking on water:

I'm originally an Okie, and I don't want to live there anymore, but I really don't want to hear any yokels from other states (especially Kansas! Puh-leeze!) making up stupid superior guff about Oklahoma. It makes me peevish. All that space gives a person's brain some room to grow. Trust me.
Now we live in beautiful Central New York. The winter is a bit long, and there's a lot of snow, but it's really nice. Just minutes in any direction from the city, we can trek to forests, waterfalls, gorgeous hills (they're called "drumlins"--how lovely...) Syracuse is a small but pleasant city. Here's a photo taken from Syracuse Online of the rooftops in winter:

I have a degree in English from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas. I loved college, so much so that I dabbled at it for about a decade! I don't really recall attending any classes, however, till my junior "year" (a fluid term) when I transferred to ESU. I'm glad that's where I finished up, because I received a good, challenging education there. I had wonderful profs in the English Dept. and also worked with great folks in various offices of Student Affairs, especially Associated Student Government (ASG) and the Office of International Student Affairs (OISA).
That's where I first became acquainted with queer activism, too, which has introduced me to some of the coolest people I know. It's the good fight. Check out my Queer City link page for more information on the folks who have good queer-related information online.
Most of my hobbies or interests other than reading, writing, and travel are featured elsewhere in the Good Stuff section of my homepage.
Carolyn and I live with our two cats, Dagny and Loki, who are both lovable, smart, and somewhat weird, and our tankful of assorted fish, the most personable of which are Abe the really impressive pleicostomus, Phinias the phunny phrog, and Letty the one-eyed platy. You will no doubt be happy to note that I have posted NO pictures of the pets or pretended these are "their" pages. Yes, you're welcome.
Our friends are the best. Some have web pages of their own--whooie!--which you can access through the Miscellaneous Bin of Coolness page, and I do encourage you to do so. Some are featured here, in my personal photo album, below. If you link to the pic album, you are probably IN it, as I'm not the only one in the world driven by wild self-absorption!
