FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 12-2-2006

Amy Klobuchar is Junior U.S. Senator elect from Minnesota and is Minnesota's first woman to be elected U.S. Senator. She is Hennepin County's chief prosecutor serving almost a quarter of Minnesota's residents. Her Safe School Initiative, community prosecution efforts and criminal justice reforms have earned national awards for advancing justice. She favors opportunity, hard work and responsibility. She puts the interests of the many ahead of the interests of the few and stands up for what's right without fear or favor. She knows that we need to engage in diplomacy and international alliances to foster peace, freedom and democratic progress. She knows that the Bush administration has committed numerous errors on war, peace and economy which she is determined to help correct. She knows that the invasion of Iraq was a huge error which they covered up with huge lies. She knows that we need serious debate instead of slanted TV shouts. She knows we must draw down our forces in Iraq. She will fight for accountability for the run-up to the Iraq war. For pushing for responsible activities instead of irresponsible ones at the national level, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
