FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 8-5-2006

Better

James Risen is a reporter for the New York Times and was a reporter for the Los Angeles Times. He has two books about the Central Intelligence Agency, the latest is State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration. The first book of the two is co-authored with Milton Beardon. An earlier book about abortion was co-authored with Judy Thomas. James Risen and Erik Lichtblau received a 2006 Pulitzer Prize in National Reporting. They blew the whistle on NSA domestic spying without court-approved warrants, an unconstitutional practice. Afghanistan was rapidly turned into a narco-state under American authority. Saudi security officials have Osama bin Laden screensavers. The Bushies radically politicized and militarized intelligence and introduced policy-driven serious flaws in intelligence accuracy. Intelligence "failures" were created to push illegal mass-murdering warfare. Bush shielded himself from intelligence reality so he could lie more effectively. For blowing the whistle on numerous illegalities, deficiencies and distortions of the Bush regime, James Risen has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
