Philippe Sands is Professor of Law and Director of the Centre on International Courts and Tribunals (Faculty) and a key member of staff in the Centre for Law and the Environment at University College London. He has written many books and other publications; the most noteworthy one is Lawless World: America and the Making and Breaking of Global Rules from FDR's Atlantic Charter to George W. Bush's Illegal War. If one of the world's most noted lawyers says it's an illegal war and you do not believe him you have a skull full of cement. Of course, those of us who knew from the git go that it was illegal are not at all surprised by this "revelation". But we are grateful because truth should always be welcomed, especially if it is about a secretive crook and his rich buddies. Sands has been involved in many recent high-profile cases in the World Court, British detainees at Guantanamo and efforts to extradite Augusto Pinochet to Spain (a long-ago Republican-backed criminal). Sands has written for the Los Angeles Times and the Washington Post and has appeared regularly on CNN and the BBC. For bludgeoning lies with truths and for helping to bring fascists to justice, Philippe Sands has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
