FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 3-11-2006

Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf is the President of Liberia. She is the first elected female President of an African country. She has the task of stabilizing and advancing a nation ravished by numerous greedy, corrupt and warmongering men. All of the leading government workers are now required to declare their financial assets. She is a former World Bank economist and veteran politician who will make full use of her iron determination and financial know-how to set a course for the benefit of all Liberians. Roads need to be built/fixed, a national telephone network created, a national electicity grid created and water systems created/improved. Weary warriors need to be tasked for education and civilian jobs. Healing and reconstruction is the name of her game in a framework of personal freedom, desperately needed foreign aid and transparency of government providing true justice for all. She knows that they need constitutional, land, judicial and civil service reform. She also knows that imperial presidency is a curse and an abomination.
