Diane Wilson is a retired fourth-generation shrimper off the Gulf Coast of Texas, the author of "An Unreasonable Woman" which details her activities, a social justice/environmental activist and cofounder of CODE PINK. She has won National Fisherman Magazine Award, Mother Jones Hellraiser of the Month, Lois Gibbs Environmental Lifetime Award, Louisianna Environmental Action (LEAN) Environmental Award, Giraffe Project, Jenifer Altman Award, Bioneers Award and others. She protested against Cheney and DeLay (war/repression/injustice/corruption) and was thrown in jail for months under grim conditions. She has been on several hunger strikes and has had her boat sunk. Diane Wilson got started on her activism when she learned the outrageous news that her county was the most polluted in the USA and fishing nets were catching dead shrimp and dolphin carcasses. The cause was simple: massive and poorly-regulated chemical and petrochemical plants spewing forth ethylene dichloride, vinyl chloride and other toxics. For vigorously opposing criminal pollution by whatever means necessary, Diane Wilson has been named Futuresaver of the Week. Click the links below for more information.
