FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 12-24-2005

Harold Pinter won the 2005 Nobel Prize for Literature and the Wilfred Owen prize for poetry opposing the USA aggression against Iraq. He is a magnificent playwright, screenwriter, poet, director, actor and political activist. He has also been awarded the Shakespeare Prize (Hamburg), the European prize for literature (Vienna), the Pirandello Prize (Palermo), the David Cohen British Literature Prize, the Lawrence Olivier Award and the Moliere D' Honner for lifetime achievement. He has honorary degrees from fourteen universities. He has spoken out against abuse of state power on many occasions. Many books and articles have been written about Pinter. He has won the Golden Web Award, the Golden Pen Award and numerous other awards and honors. He knows that politicians tend to discard truth in their endless search for power over people and events. People who are opposed to undue power, lies, wars and other brutalities are marginalized, killed, tortured and otherwise discarded. For being a truly superb playwright, for winning the Nobel Literature Prize and for giving the most important truth-telling lecture/speech in human history, Harold Pinter has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
