FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 12-17-2005

Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy of New York's 4th district suffered when her husband was killed and her son was injured by random gunfire on a commuter train. She launched a campaign against gun violence which eventually led to her defeating a pro-gun congressman. She serves on the House Education and Workforce Committee and on the House Financial Services Committee. She has an excellent progressive record on gun violence, education, public health, abortion, families, children, foreign policy, corporations, small business, civil rights, campaign finance reform, tax reform, seniors, Social Security, marriage penalty, prochoice (100% NARAL), women and minorities, sexual orientation, affordable health care, death penalty, trade agreements, propeace, third world debt reduction, proenvironment (95% LCV), DNA testing, United Nations and on many other issues.
