Michael German was a Special Agent, Counterterrorism, FBI. He resigned in protest of continuing failures in the FBI counterterrorism program. He is now a Senior Fellow at Global Security. The FBI seems to have a culture of only going after a specific subset of terrorists and ignoring other terrorists who also present a threat to American security/democracy. The FBI at the top and middle leadership also has a culture of suppressing whistleblowers who are trying to improve the quality and effectiveness of FBI operations. Whistleblowers should be protected instead of being vilified and punished. FBI leadership at the top and middle has a culture of suppressing whistleblowers who are trying to improve the effectiveness and quality of FBI operations. Whistleblowers should be protected instead of being vilified and punished. FBI leadership (top and middle) seems to be fixated on covering up mistakes instead of correcting them. The result is an ineffective, prejudiced and inefficient FBI which is incapable of reform because it is too corrupt. If terrorist attacks promote the leadership agenda at the very top of US government which happens to be increasing undemocratic control of Americans, there is no motivation to really fight terrorism.
