FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 8-13-2005

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida's 20th district is pro-choice, pro-education, pro-gun control, pro-health care, pro-gay rights, pro-women, pro-Medicare, pro-seniors, pro-working families, pro-children, pro-safety, pro-environment, pro-Planned Parenthood, and pro-Social Security. She was the youngest female legislator in the history of Florida (26). She is a firm believer in separation of Church and State. She has been appointed to the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee and is a member of Nancy Pelosi's 30 Something Working Group. She joined the bi-partisan Congressional Cuba Democracy Caucus. With excellent reasoning, she opposes CAFTA. She belongs to the Financial Services Committee and the Committee on the Judiciary and is the only freshman chosen to serve on the Democratic Whip team. She served 8 years in the Florida House and 4 years in the Florida State Senate. She authored and passed numerous Florida bills: Drive Thru Baby Bill, Drive Thru Mastectomy Bill, Florida Infant Crib Safety Act, outlawing human and sexual trafficking and others.
