FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 6-11-2005

Better

Congresswoman Melissa Bean of Illinois' 8th district was endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters for the 2004 race. She won against anti-environmentalist incumbent Phil Crane. In addition to doing a better job protecting the environment she wants to use common sense far more than is the case today, stop throwing money at the super rich, move toward a balanced budget from the present orgy of borrowing from overseas, have quality affordable health insurance and care, stimulate job growth, have good local schools, rise above he influence of special interests, fight for what matters most for our families, be accountable for results and have full time dedication to the needs of her district. She knows we need more quality jobs and more job-training programs, need to close loopholes that encourage the sending of American jobs to other countries, need to stop trying to privatize Social Security and Medicare, need relief from throwing money at overpriced drugs produced by super-rich drug companies and need better schools to help produce better workers and better leaders. For embodying the optimum mix of environmentalism, progressive vision, compassion, fiscal responsibility and business savvy, Melissa Bean has been named Futuresaver of the Week.
