FUTURESAVER OF THE WEEK ENDING 4-30-2005

Tamar Gabelnick is the Director of the Federation of American Scientists' Arms Sales Monitoring Project. Conventional arms control is non-existant and arms makers and arms dealers escalate the arms race so they can maximize profits. The US Government does nothing to slow the pace of the USA being the world's #l arms dealer so the USA is the world's #1 war profiteer resulting in huge war casualties worldwide not just in Afghanistan/Iraq. The current USA government does everything it can to escalate war worldwide so our arms makers/dealers can maximize their profits and political campaign contributions. It is institutionalized viciousness on a grand scale: their fondest hope is that peace never breaks out and deficit spending can last forever. That this leads to moral and financial bankruptcy is a reality that their negative hallucinations sweep away. They care for profits not people or the environment. She knows that economic profit must be removed from governments' decisions about arms exports and that international peace and security must be promoted by reigning in the arms trade.
