Chalmers Johnson is the author of The Sorrows of Empire: Militarism, Secrecy and the End of the Republic and of Blowback: The Costs and Consequences of American Empire. He is president of the Japan Policy Research Institute and edited/contributed to Okinawa: Cold War Island. He taught at the University of California for 30 years (Berkeley and San Diego). He has received prestigious fellowships and was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has written 16 books and numerous articles and reviews. He has been involved with PBS television and Democracy Now! radio. Chalmers Johnson's realistic economic analyses totally demolish the Bush/Cheney inferences of the future viability of USA wealth and power in relation to Asia and Europe.
